【Summer Volunteer Practice】Admiring the Elms of the North while volunteering —The Voluntary Teaching Group of the School of Public Economics and Administration goes to Inner Mongolia

From July 7th to 14th, volunteers from the SUFE School of Public Economics and Administration did voluntary teaching in Ao Baoliang Primary School in Bai Nijing Town, Erdos City of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. While spreading knowledge and support, the volunteers also inspired and encouraged all the students. The activity was reported by local media such as Erdos broadcast television, Dalad Banner Broadcast television and Xiao Zhuren newspaper, positive feedback was given by all.

To ensure the activity would go smoothly, the group made preparations from the beginning of last semester. Members of the group kept in touch with the primary school throughout even before the teaching work began, and in order to ensure the quality of the lesson, they received professional teaching training and improved their lesson plans several times. When everything was ready, the group of 10 students, leadi by a professional teacher departed for Inner Mongolia. After traveling for more than 30 hours at night they arrived in Dalad Banner, Erdos City, on July 8th.

From July 9th to 14th, the group taught the assignments for two classes. Members of the group prepared interesting lessons according to their own capabilities, they not only taught basic knowledge of disciplines such as History, Geography and English, but also created practicial curriculums such as recycling which is related to the local life, so as to help them with real life green practices

In the morning of July 12th, Ao Baoliang Primary School held a simple but solemn donation ceremony. The teaching group presented school supplies totaling 12,000 yuan to the students and passed on love and hope from all those who care about the students. In return, the students expressed their gratitude with a  symbolic dance, with a beautiful and elaborate composition.

Although the volunteers only spent6 days there., They forged deep friendships with the students. Both groups couldn’t help holding back tears when saying farewell to each other.

The activity brought not only the material supplies for the local children, but more importantly, camaraderie and guidance. The volunteers yielded more than the precious experience, but a spirit of devotion, now rooted in the Mongolian plateau will grow into a grand tree of knowledge in the future.

Time was limited, but the care from SUFE students to the children in this wonderful and remote area will pass down through the ages.
