Celebrating the Mid-Autumn Festival | International Student Chinese Traditional Culture Sharing Session Held

With the full moon approaching, the whole nation is welcoming the Mid-Autumn Festival. The bright moon hanging high in the night sky represents a homeland that has long been cherished in countless wanderers' dreams. From the innocent childhood notion of the moon being a white jade plate to the sentimental feelings of looking up at the moon and thinking of home while living far away, the moon serves as a small ferry in the hearts of Chinese, transporting longing from one side to another.

On September 24th, International Cultural Exchange School organized a Mid-Autumn cultural sharing session. As the Mid-Autumn Festival drew near, both Chinese and international students gathered at the School to experience the Mid-Autumn culture together.

Accompanied by the gentle melody of Shuidiao Getou, a traditional Chinese song to a poem in the cí style, Chinese students majoring in Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language eloquently told stories of the Mid-Autumn Festival.

After learning about the origins, legends, and folk customs of the Mid-Autumn Festival, the international students teamed up with Chinese students to craft their own Mid-Autumn lanterns. At the end of the event, everyone tasted mooncakes together.

May we all be blessed with longevity, sharing the beauty of the moon even if we are thousands of miles apart. The Mid-Autumn cultural sharing session concluded amidst laughters and cheerful conversations. May the international students spend a warm and peaceful Mid-Autumn Festival in China. It is hoped that with the joy of the holiday, they will work harder to learn Chinese language and culture, sharing with the world their firsthand experiences of China's story.
