From July 10 to 28, 2017 SUFE Global Summer School was held.With the theme of Cross-Border Communication, Cross-Cultural Management , the summer school organized by College of Business ,included academic courses, China culture course, enterprises visits, attracted nearly 30 international students from more than 20 famous universities at home and abroad . Through rich activities, students get a better understanding of Chinese economic development, and feel the charm of Chinese traditional culture.
Academic course: Chinese professors talking about China
To understand the Chinese market, the courses must be authentic! The Global Summer School offered a total of 5 academic courses, including the Chinese culture under the background of consumer habits, the new hot spots of Chinese economic development , cultural management and leadership, Doing business in China from the legal perspective , the basic Chinese language . In class, Chinese Professors analyzes Chinese market for students in English and introduces the Chinese culture; during the interaction , cultural collision inspired the collision of thought, the professors and students came to lively discussion, the classroom filled with active atmosphere.
From the Journey to the West, a dream of Red Mansions, the Art of War, to Chinese family relations, Chinese type employment relationship, "One country, two systems", "The Belt and Road ", The company law of China ...Professors introduced the concepts with Chinese characteristics into the classroom. With the combination of theory and case teaching method, they opened the journey of China market exploration for the students. In addition, a case study as the feature of the summer school, students formed groups to do the case analysis on the topic of “WAL-MART in China” with the knowledge they have learned, and presented as group contests.
Enterprise visit: the unity of knowledge and action
How to run an enterprise in China? How should multinational corporations cope with cross culture in China? In order to enable students to fully appreciate the Chinese characteristics of the enterprise culture, the summer school also arranged 3 times of enterprises visits. From Magna, Oriza Holdings to SAP, the enterprises included the auto parts manufacturing industry, financial industry and technology service industry. Through the enterprises visits and the talking with the senior managers, students get a glimpse of concept of development and management mode of enterprises.
Cultural courses: Tai Chi, calligraphy, cooking
Tai Chi, practice calligraphy, and then cook a table of Chinese delicious dishes...... The summer school carefully prepared 3 Chinese Culture courses, leading the students feel the beauty of calligraphy and the moderation of Taiji Culture, to take a bite of China, broad and to learn the profound Chinese culture.
The global summer school to pay attention to the integration of theory and practice, relying on the rich teaching media, use case analysis, action teaching and other teaching methods, humanized teaching management mode with the help of learning buddies. The SUFE Business College teaching mode, shaping students international vision, improve their the cross-cultural communication, dialectical thinking and innovative thinking ability.
In recent years, College of Business adheres to the internationalization strategy as the starting point, and has carried out project of short-term, medium-term and long-term different dimensions of overseas travel and education projects in corporation with many world-renowned institutions. The summer school is a new carrier of the international strategy. This year coincides with the centennial celebration of SUFE, as an important window for foreign students to recognize and understand SUFE, the global summer school promoted global cooperation and exchange with universities from all over the world , effectively improve the international reputation of Shanghai University of Finance and Economics
