Under the guiding principle of the 18th CPC National Congress, The Plan for Promoting International Pilot Schools, put forward by the State Administration of Foreign Expert Affairs and the Ministry of Education, aimed at building world-class universities in China. The plan was carried out through a series of measures such as establishing pilot international campuses, employing foreign professors, and applying foreign teaching models and patterns. All of these have contributed to the cultivation of innovative talent.
The first batch of International Pilot Schools included the School of Pharmaceutical Science and Technology at Tianjing University, Xi’an Jiaotong University-Hong Kong University of Science and Technology’s Joint School of Sustainable Development, the Department of Mathematics of Shanghai at Jiaotong University, and the School of Engineering Science at Huazhong University of Science and Technology.
SUFE started its efforts to apply to become an International Pilot School in 2014. After this long preparation and several meetings with the State Administration of Foreign Expert Affairs, SUFE submitted the relevant materials on March 27th, 2015. Two months later, on June 9th, it was announced that SUFE had been accepted in the second batch of internationalized pilot schools. Among the schools in the batch, SUFE was the only university of social science and humanities, and the only university of finance and economics.
SUFE’s acceptance as an International Pilot School marked a milestone in the internationalization of the university. It will promote talent cultivation and deepen university reform, improve the quality of teachers and enhance the internationalization of scientific research.
