【Graduation Season】“Chasing Dreams, Volunteer to Serve Western Regions”— On a Farewell Meeting for SUFE Volunteers

On the afternoon of June 22nd, the 2016 SUFE Farewell Meeting for Volunteers Serving the Western Regions of China was held in the meeting room of the Administration Building. Liu Yongzhang, Vice Chairperson of the University Council , leaders from relating departments and services, members of the Graduate Voluntary Teaching Group and volunteers who were going to serve the west region  attended the meeting.

Chu Hua, Secretary of the SUFE Communist Youth League, introduced the project of serving the western region. She also made a brief introduction to the Graduate Voluntary Teaching Group and volunteers who joined the project.

Guo Wanghui, a student from School of Information Management and Engineering and Mao Tong, a student from Law School, representing respectively the Graduate Voluntary Teaching Group and volunteers serving the western regions made speeches at the meeting. Guo gave particular thanks to the help that SUFE has offered him. Mao expressed with enthusiasm what is inside all the volunteers “Go to the west, where the country needs us most.”
After the students’ speeches, Xue Liang, Deputy Secretary of the CPC General Branch from School of International Business Administration, made a statement on behalf of all the teachers who came to the meeting. Mr. Xue had just finished his temporary post in Yuanyang County , Yunnan province. He was glad to see that the school actively guides the students to devote themselves to the development of western areas of our country, and students are willing to do the volunteer work. He also shared his own experiences for the students to refer as well as his personal suggestions. Mr. Xue then sent his best wishes to the students: “ It is action that can make dreams come true, even we who have limited strength, can  make a difference as long as we take action.”


After that, the teachers and students had a cordial talk with each other. Students shared their experiences during the training sessions, and their aspirations for the work hereafter. The teachers sent their sincere regards to the volunteers, and reminded them to prepare for difficulties, and that SUFE will always support them.

Then, Liu Yongzhang, Vice Chairperson of the University Committee, conveyed his cordial greetings to the volunteers. Apart from the respect to their devotions, he also hopes that they would do their job well and be welcomed by native people. Together with other teachers, Mr. Liu presented the school badge to volunteers and sent his best wishes to them. The teachers of the schools where the volunteers came from, presented souvenirs to the students. All who attended the meeting took photos together.
