On May 15, the Council Meeting of Confucius Institute at Tallinn University (CITU) was held at the Shanghai University of Finance and Economics (SUFE). Yao Lingzhen, Vice President of SUFE, Dong Jing, Director of Confucius Institute Office, Lin Hua, Director of Finance Department, Zhang Wei, Deputy Director of Personnel Department, Mikk Kasesalk, Vice President of Tallinn University, Priit Reiska, member of Council and former Vice President of Tallinn University, Uku Lember, Dean of School of Humanities of Tallinn University, Chinese and foreign deans of Confucius Institutes attended the meeting.

Yao Lingzhen welcomed the council members and thanked Tallinn University for its long-term support of CITU, saying that SUFE would fully support the construction of CITU and further deepen the cooperation between the two universities in many fields by relying on the friendly bridge of CITU

Mikk Kasesalk expressed his gratitude to SUFE for its warm reception and the hard work of the CITU team and praised its excellent achievements. He was pleased to say that Tallinn University and SUFE have been cooperating to build CITU for 11 years, and the partnership between the two universities has been solid and deepening. He hoped that both sides would continue to maintain in-depth and friendly cooperation, and would make unremitting efforts for the sustainable and high-quality development of CITU.

On behalf of CITU, Foreign Director Anete Elken reported to the Board of Council on the 2024 development and the results of the key work of CITU. The Board of Council approved the 2024 work report and financial accounts of CITU, the 2025 work plan and financial budget report, and the meeting engaged in an in-depth discussion about future development and work focuses.

In the past year, CITU has maintained a positive momentum of development, expanding the coverage of Chinese language courses, opening up new Chinese language teaching sites, and organizing numerous cultural activities to enhance cultural exchanges between China and Ireland. In the future, CITU will further expand educational cooperation and continue to contribute to the friendship between China and Ireland.
