Vice Chairperson of University Council He Pengcheng Leads Delegation to Switzerland and France

From October 21 to 28, He Pengcheng, Vice Chairperson of University Council of Shanghai University of Finance and Economics (SUFE), led the delegation to Switzerland and France, signing new cooperation agreements with world-class universities, renewing relevant agreements with former cooperating universities and exploring the feasibility of expanding cooperation in the future; visiting the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), and the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) to conduct academic exchanges with relevant experts on education investment and education planning, and further develop students' internship opportunities in international organizations; visiting representatives of SUFE alumni in Switzerland and France. Shen Hui, Dean of International Education College, Zong Qingqing, Vice Dean of School of Public Economics and Management, Gao Yaoli, Deputy Director of the Department of Development Planning and Deputy Director of Higher Education Institute, and Wei Tao, Director of Student Mobility Office of International Office, accompanied the visit.

On October 21, the delegation visited the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) and met with Liang Guoyong, alumnus of SUFE and senior economist of UNCTAD. He Pengcheng introduced the development of the university in recent years, and Liang Guoyong introduced the basic situation of UNCTAD and his research in the field of international investment. Both sides had in-depth exchanges on international investment research cooperation, student internships and other topics.

On October 22, the delegation visited EHL Hotel Management Business School in Switzerland. He Pengcheng introduced the career development of SUFE and signed a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation with Prof. Juan Perellon, Chief Academic Officer of EHL Hotel Management Business School. Both sides reached a preliminary consensus on the cooperation in the fields of teacher training, student summer (winter) camps, academic cooperation and expert lectures.


On the morning of October 23, the delegation visited Montpellier Higher Business School (MHBS) in France. Bruno Ducass, Dean of the Ecole Supérieure de Commerce de Montpellier, Carole Santos-Magliozzi, Director of the International Cooperation Office, Cyril Foropon, Director of the Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) Program, Jonathan Luffarelli, Director of the Graduate School, Elsa Kassardjian, Director of the BIBA Program, and others met with the delegation.and Elsa Kassardjian, Director of BIBA Program, met with the delegation. He Pengcheng introduced the history and advantages of SUFE and shared the key work of SUFE in recent years to serve the national strategy. The two sides fully exchanged and discussed the conditions, paths and steps of scientific research cooperation, DBA program construction, and joint development of international undergraduate and international master's degree, and agreed to further strengthen the contact and deepen the cooperation in the relevant fields in the future. During the meeting, He Pengcheng and Bruno Ducass signed a new Memorandum of Understanding on behalf of the two universities and renewed the agreement on student exchange program.

In the afternoon of October 23, the delegation visited Montpellier University Management School. He Pengcheng, and Françoise Pierrot, Deputy Director of the International Division of School of Management, exchanged views on the recent developments, strategies and future goals of the two universities. The two sides reviewed the implementation of the existing exchange program, discussed the feasibility of the cooperation of the Master of Finance program and and interdisciplinary talent cultivation, and expressed that both sides should combine the advantageous resources of the two universities to provide students with richer learning experience and career development opportunities.

On the morning of October 24, the delegation visited the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD). He Pengcheng had an in-depth discussion with the OECD Education Overview research team on education investment and comparison of education funding data of global cities. Gao Yaoli and the PISA Project Financial Literacy research team exchanged views on financial literacy education. The two sides reached a preliminary consensus on the exchange of education funding data and financial literacy education research results of OECD countries.

On October 24, during the visit to Paris University of Political Science, the delegation had a meeting with Benoit Banchereau, Director of Executive Education of the university. Both sides exchanged and shared views on talent cultivation and internationalization. He Pengcheng introduced the development concept and layout of SUFE in recent years in frontier disciplines such as digital economy, big data and artificial intelligence. Zong Qingqing introduced the discipline layout, faculty, international exchanges and cooperation, and the characteristics of Master of Public Administration (MPA) talent cultivation, and expressed his expectation for the in-depth cooperation between the two sides in the fields of scientific research and talent cultivation. During the meeting, Zong Qingqing and Benoit Banchereau signed a new cooperation agreement on short-term student exchange programs on behalf of the two universities.

In the morning of October 25, the delegation visited the UNESCO International Institute for Educational Planning (IIEP). He Pengcheng exchanged views with relevant experts of IIEP on education planning and education input. The two sides had an in-depth discussion on the cooperation in education finance research and the establishment of a mechanism for the internship of SUFE students to IIEP.

In the afternoon of October 25, the delegation paid a visit to Yang Xinyu, Ambassador of the Permanent Mission of China to UNESCO, and both sides had an in-depth discussion on the cultivation of talents in international organizations.Ambassador Yang Xinyu firstly introduced the basic situation of the Permanent Mission of China to UNESCO and its tasks in diplomacy, economy and culture, etc. She said that the development of globalization has an urgent demand for high-quality professionals, and she expects to see more outstanding students from SUFE to shine in the international arena in the future. He Pengcheng, said that SUFE will rely on the advantages of academic disciplines, effectively integrate the resources of academic disciplines, build an interdisciplinary and international cultivation platform, allocate first-class faculty members both in China and abroad, encourage and support students to study abroad, participate in internships in international organizations, and actively make the voice of SUFE heard in international organizations.

During the visit, the delegation also visited the representatives of our alumni in Switzerland and France, had cordial and friendly exchanges with the alumni, introduced the latest achievements of the university and its development dynamics to the alumni, and expressed their greetings and blessings to the alumni. The alumni shared their learning and working experiences in foreign countries and put forward valuable suggestions for the development of their alma mater. He Pengcheng thanked the alumni for their long-term support to the alma mater and welcomed them to come back to the alma mater, and hoped that the alumni representatives could give full play to their role as a bridge and a link to unite the majority of the alumni, inject new vitality into the construction of the alma mater, tell the story of China and the story of SUFE, and show to the world China's cultural charisma and the characteristics of SUFE.
