From October 20 to 27, Zhu Mingxiong, Vice Chairperson of University Council, Shanghai University of Finance and Economics (SUFE), led a delegation to the Netherlands and Hungary. Ni Zhixing, Director of Student Work Office, Li Tao, Vice Dean of School of Statistics and Management, Wang Ti, Vice Chairperson of College Council of College of Business, and Zhang Yongling, Deputy Director of Teachers' Work Department and Talent Office, accompanied the visit.


During the visit to the Vrije University Amsterdam (VUA), the delegation had a meeting with Arjan van Witteloostuijn, Dean of Faculty of Business and Economics, Reyka Lycklama, Deputy Director of International Office, Prof. Erik Verhoef, Prof. Svetlana Khapova, Prof. Remco Zwinkels, as well as Assistant Prof. and SUFE alumnus, Zhu Xinchen. The two sides introduced their respective development history, talent cultivation, discipline construction, team development and scientific research innovation and other initiatives and advantages. Both sides reached a preliminary consensus on the signing of the framework agreement, and reached cooperation intentions on student exchanges, faculty visits, academic cooperation and other aspects.


During the visit to Hague University of Applied Sciences (HUAS), Zhu Mingxiong and Deborah Mevissen, Dean of Faculty of Business, Finance and Marketing, renewed the student exchange agreement on behalf of the two sides, which marks that the cooperation in the promotion of cultural exchanges and talent cultivation would enter into a new stage, and inject new vitality into the educational exchanges on a continuous basis. The delegation met with Deborah Mevissen, Dean of the Faculty, Casper Verschoor, Director of International Affairs, Sabine Amft, Strategic Advisor for International Partnerships, Mathis Mourey, Scientific Researcher in Financial Statistics, Diana Perra, Lecturer in Integrated Programs in Mathematics and Statistics, and Pieter Nieuwelink, Lecturer in Management and Personal Growth. Nieuwelink, lecturer in management and personal development, had an in-depth discussion and exchanged views on topics such as the “Cooperative International Learning Program (COIL)”, the “Lighthouse Program” and the characteristics of the teacher evaluation mechanism.


During the visit to Corvinus University of Budapest (CUB), the delegation held talks with Szántó Zoltán Oszkár, Vice President of CUB, Csicsmann László, Director of the Center for Contemporary Asian Studies of Corvinus, and Csóka Péter, Director of the Center for Financial Studies of Corvinus. Both sides reviewed the exchange history, and respectively introduced the latest development, university characteristics, as well as the efforts and explorations in talent cultivation, scientific research and progress of internationalization work. The two sides discussed topics such as student exchange, faculty visits, short-term academic exchanges, etc., and unanimously expressed the expectation of establishing a partnership to promote diversified exchanges and cooperation.


During the visit to Eötvös Lorand University (ELTE) , the delegation had a meeting with Gábor Zemplén, Vice Dean of Faculty of Economics of ELTE, and Judit Fortvingler, Head of International Division of Faculty of Economics.Zhu Mingxiong and Gábor Zemplén introduced the history and development, disciplinary advantages and innovative practices in talent cultivation mode and internationalization of the two universities respectively, and shared their advanced experiences and characteristic initiatives. The two sides further discussed the cooperation on student exchange programs, summer programs, academic exchanges in the fields of business and statistics, and short-term visits of faculty members, and expressed that they would work together to promote the implementation of the relevant specific projects.


During the visit to Budapest University of Technology and Economics (BUTE), the delegation met with Tamás Koltai, Dean of Faculty of Economics and Social Sciences, and Mária Szalmáné Csete, Vice Dean of International Affairs. Both sides introduced the history and characteristics respectively, and had extensive discussions on talent cultivation objectives, master programs, academic research characteristics, internationalization work development, and possible areas of future cooperation, etc., and expressed their intention to further strengthen cooperation in the future.
This year is the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Hungary, and the university will take this opportunity to actively participate in educational cooperation and mutual understanding between China and Hungary, and continue to enhance humanistic exchanges with countries along the “Belt and Road”. While maintaining the existing international cooperation, this visit has expanded new international cooperation opportunities and injected new vitality to serve the national strategy and enhance the internationalization level of education.
