Over 8,000 university students and teachers from all over China are gathering in Shanghai for the fifth National University Art Exhibition.
Jointly organized by China’s Ministry of Education and Shanghai city government, the six-day art exhibition, which ends on Saturday, serves as a final presentation of a nation-wide art campaign that was introduced by the education ministry in 2016.
Students and teachers from over 400 universities in 31 cities and provinces, including those from Hong Kong and Macau, will give art performances or take part in exhibitions and education forums in Shanghai.
Fudan University, Shanghai University of Finance and Economics, Shanghai University and Shanghai Normal University will set up stages for performances in vocal music, musical instrument, dance, drama and poetry recitation.
Forty-seven booths of artworks are on display at Shanghai Exhibition Center until Saturday. Some of the booths focused on the promotion of China’s traditional art and culture like shadow play, Sichuan Opera, paper cutting, lantern design, folklore and handicrafts.
Others combined art with technology and campus life.
