On October 9, Andrey Loginov, Rector of the Russian State University for the Humanities (RSUH), visited Shanghai University of Finance and Economics (SUFE), leading a delegation that included Maksim Suslenkov, Vice Rector, and Fatima Sharan, Director of the Rector's Office. Liu Yuanchun, President of SUFE, met with the delegation. Wang Xianhua, Dean of the School of Humanities, and Ding Dong, Director of the International Office, also attended the meeting.

President Liu welcomed the RSUH delegation and introduced SUFE's history, academic strengths, faculty and student numbers, and development strategy. He noted that SUFE traces its origins to the business program established at Nanjing Higher Normal School in 1917. In 1921, the program was relocated to Shanghai, where Shanghai College of Commerce was established, marking the founding of China's first university specializing in business education. SUFE will celebrate its 110th anniversary next year.
Liu said that as artificial intelligence continues to transform higher education, SUFE is pursuing its Intelligent Business and Economics Strategy, with a focus on exploring new ways in which AI can drive knowledge innovation and improve resource allocation. SUFE has established the School of Computing and Artificial Intelligence and the AI Finance Development and Service Center, jointly established the School of Digital Economy with Alibaba Group, and is working with Ant Group to develop a large language model for the financial sector. The university also plans to launch the Alliance for Intelligent Business and Economics next year, with the aim of developing an independent knowledge system and talent development system for the digital era.
Rector Loginov thanked SUFE for its warm hospitality and introduced RSUH's history, academic structure, and recent development. He noted that RSUH traces its history back to 1687 and was established in 1991 through the merger of several institutions, including the Higher Party School of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union. RSUH is a leading Russian university in the humanities and social sciences, with about 200,000 students, more than 10,000 faculty and staff, and over 300 educational programs covering more than 50 languages.
The university comprises 16 institutes specializing in areas such as history and archives, Oriental cultures, international relations, economics and social sciences, law, psychology, and information security. Loginov said that in response to the profound changes brought about by AI, RSUH is rapidly adjusting its curricula while still facing challenges in keeping pace with rapid technological developments. He expressed the hope that RSUH could learn from SUFE's experience and practices in applying AI to education.

The two sides exchanged views on potential cooperation in areas including the platform economy, digital law, and the humanities and social sciences. They also discussed faculty exchanges, student exchanges, and research collaboration. Both sides agreed to engage relevant schools, departments, and experts in exploring substantive cooperation in these areas.
