On the morning of June 29th, Vice President Chen Xinyuan met with professor A. Stewart Fotheringham member of the US National Academy of Sciences, member of Academia Europaea, Academy of Social Sciences, professor at School of Geographical Science and Urban Planning, Arizona State University, and professor Xie Yichun, a tenured professor and founder of Department of Geography and Geology, Eastern Michigan University.
Vice President Chen Xinyuan extended warm professor Stewart and Professor Xie Yichun , and thanked the two professors for their summer courses at the Graduate School of Urban and Regional Science / Finance Institutes. He and the two professors had a pleasant talk, he introduced that SUFE was featured in Finance and Economics and focused on elite talent training, the latest progress of the reform and remarkable achievements SUFE has made. They also discussed the possibility of strengthening exchanges and deepen cooperation.
Vice President Chen Xinyuan said that the talent internationalization is an important strategy for the development of Shanghai University of Finance and Economics, he hoped the two well-known professors can continue to provide support for SUFE in the talent plan, the cultivation of innovative talents, improvement of teachers, discipline construction etc. Professor Stewart and Professor Xie Yichun said that the atmosphere of SUFE, SUFE students and the development of regional economics impressed them; and they will continue to pay attention to the development of school to strengthen exchanges and cooperation.
