On the morning of May 11th, Mikk Kasesalk, the Strategy Manager of Tallinn University, led a delegation to visit the Shanghai University of Finance and Economics(SUFE), Liu Yuanchun, President of SUFE, met with guests and attended the meeting. Vice President Yao Lingzhen presided over the meeting.
President Liu Yuanchun extended a warm welcome to the delegation. He affirmed the achievements of the cooperation between the two sides in the past decade, highly approved the important role of the Confucius Institute in promoting cultural exchanges between China and Estonia, and expressed sincere gratitude to Tallinn University for its support and contribution to the internationalization strategy and the development of SUFE. Mikk Kasesalk thanked the school for its warm reception of the delegation, briefly reviewed the cooperation process between the two sides, highly praised the high-quality resources provided by SUFE, and sincerely expressed the hope of working hand in hand with SUFE to create a new chapter.
Subsequently, both sides engaged in exchanges and discussions on how to deepen and expand cooperation. Liu Yuanchun briefly introduced two important strategic measures proposed by SUFE aiming at the goal of Double First Class construction from the perspective of a new era and news development strategy. Firstly, facing the digital era, SUFE will promote the construction of digital economy disciplines; The second is to build the Dishui Lake Advanced Finance Institute, SUFE in the Lin-gang New Area, and engage in comprehensive cooperation with world-class universities to cultivate high-end international finance and new finance talents. He stated that the two schools should promote exchanges and cooperation in fields such as talent cultivation and scientific research based on consolidating existing cooperation.
Mikk Kasesalk is confident about the new planning measures and future development of SUFE. He stated that Tallinn University is among the top universities in Estonia in the fields of Chinese language and culture, Asian research, and digital construction, and shoulders the important mission of cultivating relevant professional talents. In the future, the two schools can further expand and extend cooperation areas and projects based on respective new development strategies. Former Acting Rector Priit Reiska thanked SUFE for its years of support and recognition of Tallinn University, highly praised the previous Chinese deans, teachers, and student volunteers selected by SUFE, and suggested that the two schools further strengthen their partnership and promote new ideas and plans in new areas of cooperation.
Vice President Yao Lingzhen sincerely thanks the work team of the Confucius Institute for their contributions and support over the years, and stated that the successful experience of jointly building the Confucius Institute has laid a solid foundation for deepening the partnership between the two schools. In the future, both sides can further explore and expand cooperation in fields such as Chinese language and culture, Asian research, and digitization.
