2019-11-13设置

On the evening of November 9th, the concert of the 102nd anniversary of Shanghai University of Finance and Economics and the 20th anniversary of the Student Chinese Orchestra was held at the Art Center of SUFE. Attending the concert with guests and delegations were: Xia Feiyun, Professor of Shanghai Conservatory of Music, the Conductor of Shanghai Feiyun Chinese Music Orchestra, and an artistic consultant of SUFE Student Chinese Music Orchestra; Jiang Chuanhai, President of Shanghai University of Finance and Economics; and Zhu Mingxiong, Vice Chair of the University Council.

At the opening of the performance, a national orchestral Celebration Overture brought the audience into a grand scene, depicting the passionate pictures of the festival. Next, with conductor Liu Jie, the Student Chinese Music Orchestra brought the classic tunes. In the first half, the orchestra reproduced a tune named “Yueer gao” (The Moon Rising High), a song that helped the Orchestra win the first prize of the fifth National University Art Exhibition.

Then, the students presented a pipa octet, Dream into the Jiangnan, not only drawing the beauty of water and villages in regions south of the Yangtze River, but also showing the elegant charm of the pipa, the dynamic tone and the rich melody. To end the first half, Zhou Cheng, young teacher and the instructor of the vocal choir, played a solo of the tune Deep in the Night, and the dramatic tension brought by the Jinghu (Beijing opera fiddle) shocked the audience.

In the 20-year development of the Student Chinese Music Orchestra, Professor Xia Feiyun, a famous conductor and artistic consultant, has made an indelible contribution as the founder of the orchestra. At the concert, the President, Jiang Chuanhai, presented a special gift to Professor Xia Feiyun—a button engraved with the blessings of classmates, to pay high respects to the old artist.

At the opening of the second half, students from Xinjiang presented the “Celebration of Joy”. The fusion of percussion and dance showed the characteristics of Xinjiang people’s passion for hard work. Next, Zhou Cheng and Ruan Hong, the instructor of the Student Chinese Music Orchestra, and the representative inheritor of the National Intangible Cultural Heritage, Jiangnan Sizhu (south Yangzi string and pipe ensemble), at Shanghai, performed respectively as soloists; They then presented “Random Thoughts about the Great Wall” and “Tianshan Mountain at Festival”, to show the love of China and the joy of the festival. Finally, the concert ended in the large national orchestral, “The Silk Road” and “My Motherland and Me”.

In order to prepare for this concert, the Student Chinese Music Orchestra began to practice for their performance from the summer holiday. In order to ensure the quality of the performance, the members took each rehearsal and training seriously. It is the inheritance of the folk musicians from generation to generation that has created the Student Chinese Music Orchestra's glory for 20 years.

No matter in the past, present, or future, SUFE Student Chinese Music Orchestra will uphold SUFE’s motto, “Strive for virtue and knowledge, assist in economy and governance”, cherish the love of music, adhere to the belief in art, and inherit the national culture.
